EXCLUSIVE! Terry Gilliam Confirms To Us That He Will Not Have Role In New “Life Of Brian” Film

July 26, 2011 Posted by Administrator

By Theresa Shell

This morning Terry Gilliam confirmed to me that he will not have a role in the upcoming BBC dramatization of the “unholy row” over Monty Python’s Life Of Brian. The film will focus on Monty Python’s battle with church, council and critics in their journey to get the film released. When I asked Terry if he would have any role in the film he replied, “I’m being played by someone else. A real actor. I haven’t seen the script.”

When I asked Terry if anything else was up at the moment he replied, in his most Gilliamesque manner “…Nothing more to report. I’m in Poland in Wroclaw at a brilliant festival. Otherwise my life is meaingless.” That’s our Terry!

Terry Gilliam Joins Pythons As They Reunite In Graham Chapman Tribute Film

LOS ANGELES — You can kill him, cremate him and (ostensibly) kick his ashes around the stage at a comedy festival in Aspen.

But you can’t keep a funny guy down.

Graham Chapman, whose death from cancer in 1989 forever closed the door on a full reunion of the Monty Python comedy troupe, will soon be back in what might be the next best thing: he will star in a 3-D animated version of his absurdist memoir, “A Liar’s Autobiography: Volume VI,” with most or all of the surviving Python members performing roles that are cut together with Chapman’s voice from a taped reading made shortly before he died.

Produced and directed by Bill Jones, Ben Timlett and Jeff Simpson, who are based in London, the project continues a chaotic afterlife for the creators of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” a BBC comedy series whose run ended in 1974. They have resurfaced in films, on Broadway and in a 1998 appearance at the Aspen Comedy Arts festival, during which Terry Gilliam of the group kicked over what appeared to be an urn containing Mr. Chapman’s ashes. (In fact, those were scattered elsewhere.)

In keeping with the scrambled nature of all things Python, the new film has 15 animation companies working on chapters that will range from 3 to 12 minutes in length, each in a different style.

EXCLUSIVE: Terry Gilliam Confirms To Us That He Will Head Composite Fantasy 1884!

December 18, 2010 Posted by Administrator

I am so excited to share with you that this morning Terry Gilliam confirmed to the Man Who Killed Don Quixote Support Site that he will be heading up the retro sci-fi fantasy 1884! We are SO excited about this.

Terry’s brilliant, fantastic animation has been loved by audiences for decades.

The Film Stage reports that “the Monty Python animator will head “a retro sci-fi fantasy” set in a steam punk world. The film will feature live-action puppets with CGI heads and the actors’ eyes/mouths. The story is about a bumbling secret agent charged with stopping an imperalist’s plans for world domination with his steam-powered war machine. Some of Gilliam’s fellow Pythons will loan their voices to the characters, but they remain unnamed at the moment.”
